‘Agora’ Film Premiere at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, Cannes, France – 17 May 2009
Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz was the star of the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival last night (17 May) as she attended the premiere of her latest film ‘Agora’.
Wearing a stunning strapless green Valentino gown, split up one thigh, the 38-year-old British actress was accompanied by co-stars Max Minghella – son of the late director Anthony Minghella – Oscar Isaac, the film’s director Alejandro Amenabar and her husband Darren Aronofsky, also a film director.
In the historical drama, Weisz plays real-life 4th Century Greek philosopher, astronomer and lifelong virgin Hypatia and the film recounts the relationship between her, her devoted slave and one of her students, as well as portraying the religious persecution of women at the hands of Christian zealots of the time.
